We went to order the sheet music of the song we wanted played “I Promise” by Carman or CeCe Winans and they no longer make sheet music for that song.

Search for the song “Two Candles” I don’t know who sings it but some of the lyrics are, “Two candle shine by the alter, but tonight their flames will burn as one.” The rest of the song is about God shining his light on the marriage.

    Good luck!

Or, you can let your minister give the following statement while the two of you light the unity candle (and you can play some soft instrumental music in the backgroung…maybe “Ribbon in the Sky” by Ben Tankard):

The two outside candles of the candelabra have been lit by your mothers to represent your lives to this moment. They are two distinct lights, each capable of going its own separate way. To bring joy and happiness to your home there must be the merging of these two lights into one light. That is what the Lord meant when He said, “On this account a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh.”

From now on your thoughts shall be for each other rather than for your individual selves. Your plans shall be mutual, your joys and sorrows shall be shared alike.

As you each take a candle and together light the center candle you will extinguish your own candles, thus letting the center candle represent the union of your lives into one flesh. As this one light cannot be divided, neither shall your lives be divided but rather, a united testimony of your unity in the Lord Jesus Christ and may it shine brightly as you render service to Him.
