What song should i audition with for West Side Story as Tony?
September 7th, 2007 | by song |BK-Love asked:
Im interested in auditioning for the role of Tony in the musical West SideStory. The problem is i don’t know a good song that will show off my range and tone quality to the fullest in a standard 16-bar audition. I love all the songs Tony sings, and all of his songs are within my range. Any Suggestions?
The Director put on the call sheet that a song from a musical is preferred.

Most auditions do not require you to sing a song from the particular show.
Your best bet is to sing something already in your repertoire that showcases your voice and confidence.
Anything you audition with unless specifically requested to do so should be a piece you have spent a considerable amount of time preparing.

Have a look at this page link to a page I set up on my site for new and aspiring actors. It has places you can find audition songs as well as places to find tips and a list of songs that are performed too often in auditions.
