What is a good song to sing for an a middle school musical audition?

My middle school is doing Fiddler on the Roof. I have to prepare a song for auditions and I have no idea what type of song to sing. Everyone gets in, but I want an actual part, not just chorus. How do I make a good impression and choose a song that will be easy enough to sing. Any suggestions? Also how do I combat stage fright and not choke?

    Grease or Sound of Music songs are classics that never ever get old. Rent the movies. Stage fright gets worse when you forget to breathe. When practicing the song memorize when to breathe in! Memorize words, speed, breathe, body movement.

    Believe me…..this is how my school does it; except they ask us to sing something from the musical-maybe do something from fiddler on the roof??

    Now about stage fright…..

    Everyone is working as a team (remember that). If someone goofs-it’s ok. Everyone is there for eachother. My guess is that your play will be thursday, friday, and saturday. Since thursday is a school night and a work day there won’t be alot of people so you can work on it.

    Sing from a song you know and like listening to. That way you can get into the song ans know the lyrics. Good Luck by the way on the audition : )

    I would sing Hello dolly or a song from the sound of music. When I audition I just make sure I appear the best and do the best i can. I just take a deep breath and forget that everyone is watching me. Make sure you take it seriously. how you act while waiting to audition they will notice. so if you fool around they won’t want you to have a lead. but if you take things seriously and look the best they will consider you for better parts. good luck.
