The best way to write a sing is through inspiration [:
It’s fairly difficult to try to force a song, you need to get a subject first.
What do you want to write about?
Whether it be something about sadness, or love, or happiness, etc.
Think of a time where that emotion was at it’s highest point, then let your feelings come out through the words [:
It’s not easy and hard to get on the 1st try, but you’ll get it right

Get inspired!
Think about everything that is on your mind and write it down. This is called “brainstorming” then pick an idea, write some more thoughts about that idea such as how you feel about it, how it affects things, etc.
Then keep writing more and more about the idea, and sculpt it into a song. It’s like clay, the sculpting… You need to have a base for it, then make it into what you want it to be, see where I’m going?
If it is guitar, then just play random stuff until you get something that sounds cool, then work with that… remeber the clay analogy I made earlier.
Good luck and have fun!

Here’s some suggestions for writing a simple song. It is important to begin with simple songs because writing songs can get quite complicated! Once you master the process below, writing songs will become easier and you will be able to drift away from the process and do whatever you want.
1. Write the melody
2. Figure out the chord structure of your song
3. Add a simple bass line that only uses the roots of the chord developments
4. Develop your bass line by adding a rhythm pattern
5. Further develop your bass line by changing some of the root notes to other notes in the chords
6. Add some other instruments to make rhythms (such as drums)
7. Add some other instruments with counter melodies
A good computer program to write your song in, such as Sibelius or Finale, can make the process above much easier. These not only allow you to print out sheet music, but they also allow you to listen to what you have written down. If you go to you can get a free demo-download that has the full capacities of Sibelius except saving.
