Donny Hathaway - A Song for You

Love this voice…
Donny Hathaway.

I’ve been so many places in my life and time
I’ve sung a lot of songs
I’ve made some bad rhymes
I’ve acted out my life in stages
With 10,000 people watching
But we’re alone now and I’m singing this song to you

I know your image of me is what I hoped to be
I treated you unkindly
And darling can’t you see
There’s no one more important to me
Baby can’t you see through me
Cause we’re alone now and I’m singing this song to you

You taught me precious secrets
Of a true love , Withholding nothing
You came out in front and I was hiding
Now I’m so much better
And if my words don’t come together
Listen to the melody
Cause my love is in there hiding

(Piano Break)

I love you in a place where there’s no space or time
I love you for my life
You’re a friend of mine
And when my life is over
Remember when we were together
We were alone and I was singing this song to you

EMERSON

Trust me, we all understand. I love the young guys sometimes but no one is saying it like old school once did.

Funny that one picture looks like he’s Marc Dorsey’s Daddy, kinda erie. Did Donny have any brothers cause Marc sounds like dude and kills his songs when he covers them. Exact same tone on the lows.

Why did I JUST say that to my mother the other day. She called me while I was in my car listening to this song and said, “What’s wrong with you?” I said, “Nothing, just listening to Donny Hathaway ready to slit my wrists”

Love doesn’t mean “happiness all the time! Whuwhu” But it is definitely worth it.. It is a feeling!! Without feelings, bad and good, live is just a clock ticking…

No, Sweetie, no-no-NO!!! Fabolous and many other contemporary soul artists were, and never will be, properly schooled in the elements of meaning in a melody. Phrasing, dynamics, knowledge of how to read music, play an instrument, lead/follow a non-electronic orchestra. Put the pablum down and sip from the wineglass, darling…

have u never been in love? cuz if so, u can look at it like this: ur still free, u never got ur heart broken.
it may not help that much but when u DO get ur heart broken.. u will wish u appreciated that more, before u fell in love

  23. By donttsstop on Nov 18, 2007 | Reply

    i guess
but i don’t know if it’s worth it, u know.. my ex left me 2,5 years ago and i still feel like i’ll never get over him. love is overrated..

my FAVOURITE SONG OF ALL- TIME. i love THIS. It’s similar to the way Ellot Yamin does it. The lyrics are wonderful, The melod, the arrngement, everythin about it. Check ot Whitney’s version though, it is still the one.
